Afghan forces thwarted Taliban attacks in Bulgur, Charkhab, and Gulbagh areas of Panjwai district in southern Kandahar province, the ministry said in its statement.
At least 15 Taliban fighters were killed and five others wounded in government forces’ defensive attacks.
Similarly in Urozgan, the anti-government militants planned to attack outposts belonging to Afghan forces in Gizab district of the province, said the ministry’s another statement.
The attack was fended off, leaving five Taliban killed and another four injured.
The group officials have yet to comment.
