Afghanistan: Death Toll from COVID-19 Surpasses 1,700

The coronavirus total infections stood at 45,278 in Afghanistan after it recorded 290 more coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours.

At least 290 people were tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry, adding the country lost 18 COVID-19 patients during the same period.

The new patients died from the illness pushed the total deaths to 1,712, according to ministry’s figures.

Also, 146 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 36,122.

Worldwide, 1,399,698 have died from the deadly disease and over 59.2 more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
