Three IEDs were placed in Paghman district of the Afghan capital Kabul and another five were placed in several parts of Nimroz province.
The anti-government elements aimed to target civilians, according to a statement by the ministry.
Security officials blamed the Taliban to be responsible, but the group officials have not yet commented.
