Afghanistan Meteorological Department Predicts Heavy Rainfall, Floods

The weather bureau in a statement predicted heavy rainfall accompanied with flooding in 26 provinces, including Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Panjshir, Kapisa, Parwan, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Bamiyan, Ghazni, Ghor, Farah, Helmand, Kandahar, Daikundi, Urozgan, Zabul, Paktika, Khost, Paktia, Logar and the Salang pass.

There will be 20 to 30mm of rain at different places while the country is expected to hit by up to 10-20cm of snow, as weather forecasters in the department predicted.

The country already gripped by violence and hostilities sees heavy rainfall and floods once in a while which inflicts heavy casualties to the war-torn nation.

At the most recent case, the central Parwan province was heavily hit by flooding this September that displaced thousands of large rocks, causing deaths and injuries, destroying houses, and burying people under the rubble.
