Afghan government forces have killed five civilians in an airstrike in Khanabad district of northern Afghanistan, local officials said.

Speaking to TKG, governor’s spokesman Esmatullah Muradi, said the strike took place Monday night in Khanabad district of Kunduz province as the Taliban militants were deployed at a residential house following their attack on security outposts.

The provincial governor’s spokesman put toll of casualties from the airstrike to five civilians killed and another two wounded. Whereas at least four Afghan National Army soldiers were killed and two others injured in the Taliban ambush.

The Taliban officials, however, said as many as six Afghan forces were killed in their attack on government forces and four others were captured alive.
