Speaking at an event to celebrate the third anniversary of the “Food Security and Nutrition Agenda of Afghanistan,” Second Vice President Sarwar Danish cited figures that nearly 13 million of Afghan population are exposed to food insecurity.
Out of 13 million, eight millions suffer acute food insecurity, according to the data VP Danish provided. “It means they don’t know what their next meal is…food insecurity exist among all groups of Afghan population,” VP Danish said.
As per the figures Mr. Danish provided during the event, at least 9.6 million living in rural areas, 2.9 million living in the cities and as many as 477,000 of country’s Kochi population are suffering food insecurity.
Afghanistan population is estimated at 32.9 million people, according to National Statistics and Information Authority’s data.
