Speaking to TKG, Esmatullah Muradi, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said a car fit with explosives went off today morning around 7:00am near a battalion belonging to Afghan border forces in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province.
The explosion was followed by armed assailants trying to enter the battalion, said Mr. Muradi, but faced resistance by Afghan forces.
Clashes are ongoing, according to the source. There is no report of casualties so far.
No one has immediately claimed responsibility.
Sediq Sediqqi, the presidential spokesperson, has blamed the Taliban for the attack, but the group has yet to comment.
