Tariq Arian, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI), said Saturday, the armed Taliban have carried out nearly two thousand offensive attacks across the country during this period, killing 261 civilians and wounding 602 others.
More than two thousand Taliban fighters were also killed in government forces’ responsive attacks, said the spokesman.
The Taliban have recently scaled up violence in some provinces, according to Mr. Arian.
The group’s officials have not yet commented but had earlier denied similar reports.
