According to Tariq Arian, the ministry’s spokesman, a massive attack was averted by Afghan forces as they foiled a bid to set off car bomb yesterday in an outpost in Qarabagh district of Ghazni province.

The suicide bomber was eliminated, leaving no one hurt, he added.

Wahidullah Jumazada, however, confirmed the attack, saying at least three local police–including a commander of these forces–were wounded.

Recently, there has been a spike in car bombings across the country.

More than a dozen people were killed and more than 100 wounded after a car bomb blew up Sunday morning outside a police headquarters in the provincial capital of Ghor.
