A spokesman for the provincial governor, Mohibullah Sharifzoy, said the blast in two separate attacks in Kote-Asharo in Jalriz district of Wardak province killed five people—all civilians.
The explosions took place Tuesday in the morning, wounding another nine civilians—including women and children—the source.
The people pronounced dead were taken to hospital, said the governor’s spokesman.
No one immediately claimed the attacks.
