Dr. Abdullah leading government senior officials departed Sunday, October 18, for a trip to Tehran, his senior adviser, Mujib Rahman Rahimi said.
During his stay, the Afghan top official will meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and other high-ranking Iranian dignitaries.
Dr. Abdullah confirmed his visit on Twitter adding during his stay, he will meet and exchange views on the Afghan peace process, intra-Afghans negotiations, regional support as well as bilateral ties.
The government’s top peace negotiator Abdullah Abdullah visited Pakistan and India earlier this month, as part of the efforts to seek region’s support for the negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
