The fighting on Saturday evening took place after the Taliban stormed Shar-e Bozorg and Keshm districts of Badakhshan province, said the governor spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazari.
Government forces fended off the attack, inflicting heavy casualties to the group’s fighters, according to the source speaking to TKG.
As many as 10 Taliban insurgents were killed by Afghan forces, Mr. Nazari added, three militants were arrested.
The Taliban have yet to comment.
