Tariq Arian, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI), said the armed Taliban have carried out 575 attacks, including offensive and suicide attacks as well as bomb blasts, across the country over the past two weeks.
As many as 86 civilians were killed and 165 others wounded in these attacks, said the spokesman.
They have carried out two suicide and 72 offensive attacks in the southern Helmand alone, Mr. Arian added.
The insurgent group has yet to comment.
