As their fresh military operation, Afghan government forces carried out air and ground on Taliban militants in Nadali district, Babaji and 601st Shahra areas of Helmand province, which inflected heavy casualties to the group’s fighters, said the statement.

At least 23 Taliban were killed and six others wounded in attacks by government forces, according to the source.

Five security outposts in Nadali district which were attacked and collapsed were rebuilt, and joint operations were still ongoing, the statement added.

There were four security checkpoints set up by Afghan forces on way to 601st Shahra Battalion, where these forces have deployed.

In the last three days, hundreds of Taliban fighters have stormed security checkpoints in Helmand, claiming to have brought heavy casualties to government forces.
