Two massive car borne IED blasts were averted as Afghan security forces detected cars fitted with explosives in southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces, said statements by Ministry of Defense.
Afghan security forces have foiled a car bombing plot after they found a car rigged with explosives in Greshk district of Helmand province, read the statement.
Similarly, a car bombing attack was prevented in Kandahar province’s Maiwand district last night, with security forces spotting and foiling a vehicle laden with explosives, according to a separate statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.
The bombings took place before hitting the target, said the statements, five government forces were wounded.
Omar Zwak, a spokesman for the Helmand’s governor, however, said the car bomb in province’s Greshk district killed four Afghan National Army members and wounded another three.
No insurgent group has so far commented.
