Armed Taliban stormed security outposts in Baraki Barak district of central Logar province, said Shahpoor Ahmadzai, a spokesman for the provincial police chief.
The attack was fended off by Afghan forces, said Mr. Ahmadzai, at least 25 Taliban were killed and another 18 wounded.
A number of weapons were also seized from the militants, he added.
The insurgents has yet to comment.
