At least 12 armed Taliban were killed and another seven wounded by government fighters backed by air forces in operations aimed at thwarting the Taliban’s plans to storm security outposts in Marja district of the southern Helmand province, according to MoD’s statement.
Similarly, planned attacks of the armed group was thwarted by Afghan forces in the provincial capital of Ghazni province, triggering clashes which left six Taliban fighters killed and two others injured, said the ministry in another statement.
There was no report of casualties to Afghan forces, and the Taliban officials have yet to comment.
