Afghanistan reported 77 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, August 17, bringing its nationwide case count to 37,676.

The country lost at least two patients to the coronavirus pandemic within the last 24 hours, according to the latest data by the health ministry.

With two confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, total fatalities in the country has hit 1377, a data by the ministry indicated.

According to the official data provided by the health ministry, some 89 patients having been infected with the novel COVID-19 have recovered, bringing the recovery toll to 27,312 in the country.

Worldwide, at least 770,091 people have lost the battle for their lives to the pandemic and more than 21.7M have been infected by the virus, following an outbreak that first started in Chinese central city of Wuhan.
