Brazil Records over 1,000 Deaths, Cases Pass 1.8 Million

Brazil which is the second country behind the United States to have the highest number cases of coronavirus registered 1,071 related deaths on Saturday.

With new confirmed coronavirus deaths within the last 24 hours, Brazil has recorded to be the country with over 1.8 million cases of coronavirus.

The new cases pushed the total cases of infection to 1,839,850 while the death toll hit 71,469 as the country recorded more than a thousand deaths on Saturday.

After the United States, Brazil is the second worst-affected country. According to the data provided by Reuters coronavirus map, the United States cases of infection has hit 3,262,964 with a total of 134,659 deaths.

Earlier this week, the Brazilian President Jair Bolsenaro tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Mr. Bolsonaro is one of the leaders in the world who argued for quickly lifting lockdown restrictions and also threatened to pull the country out of the World Health Organization (WHO).
