A total of 3,071,140 cases have been reported in the United States with the death toll reaching 132,290 as of Thursday [July 8], according to the data collated by Reuters.
The state of New York suffered the most, with 403,552 cases and 31,945 deaths. In other hardest-hit states, California reported 292,625 infections and 6,724 fatalities, Texas reported 229,447 infections and 2,948 deaths whereas New Jersey recorded 15,423 deaths – having the second highest toll of deaths after the New York City, a tally by Reuters illustrated.
Globally, confirmed cases of the virus have reached more than 12,081,111 million, with the number of deaths worldwide hitting 548,429.
