U.S. President Donald Trump in a formal move pulled out his country from the World Health Organization (WHO), said a Senate member on Twitter.

Prior to that, on early May, Pres. Trump threatened that he was permanently cutting off U.S. funding to the UN’s health agency, saying he will make his “temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organization permanent and reconsider” the country’s “membership in the organization.”
The UN and Congress are now notified of his intentions, but a UN’s spokesman said the process could take effect at least a year.
Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN secretary-general, confirmed the US had notified it of its withdrawal, effective as of 6 July 2021.
