Saudi Arabia earlier on Monday announced it will bar arrivals outside the country to attend the Hajj pilgrimage over the fears of coronavirus.

Saudi Arabia on Monday said the country will bar pilgrims of countries in abroad from attending the Hajj this year over COVID-19 fears, permitting only a limited number of residents to make it.

The announcement came in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The number of coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia has exceeded 160,000, with 1,307 deaths, according to official data reported by media.
