03 (The Killid Group) — Despite the reports indicating significant progresses were made over the talks between the two feuding rivals of the last year’s disputed presidential election, it seems more likely the two leaders reach an agreement in the next few days.

But the fact that what issues a political settlement will affect—the political and military analysts look at from different angles.

A number of experts are confident that breaking a deadlock between the two presidential rivals to end the current political crisis will likely have a positive impact on the security and political situation of the country, and many others believe that this political settlement could considerably affect the economy.

Khalid Sadat, a political analyst, believes that a pullout of the Afghan leaders from the current political impasse will likely have a positive impact on several areas in the country.

According to him, the two electoral foes stepping up to end their political differences will considerably change the economic situation in the country.

Sadat further maintains that ending the a deadlock of the feuding leaders will help better combat the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Generally, there will be progresses in the political stability. To illustrate, the current [uncertain] situation of the country must be given an end. Important areas of the country is deteriorating and thus the economic situation is worsening day by day. The focus of attention must be on the [already delayed] peace process as well as on fighting the [highly contagious] coronavirus disease,” he continues.

Meanwhile, General Sadiq Shinwari, a military expert, says that a political settlement of the Afghan leaders is an important step for improving the security situation in Afghanistan.

As he maintains, a disagreement of the Afghan political leaders over solving a deadlock stemmed from last year’s presidential election will likely jeopardize the security of the country.

“An ambiguity in the political crisis and in the fate of the war-weary Afghans will lead to the people and the world’s mistrust,” said Gen. Shinwari, adding that “the Taliban will take advantage of the internal divisions between the Afghan leaders.”

The United States announced earlier it was immediately cutting $1 billion in aid and would pull another $1 billion in 2021 after failing to convince the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his main political foe Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to end the political deadlock stemming from last year’s disputed election.

But Sayed Nasir Mosawi, a political commentator, is confident that reaching an agreement to end the current feud will restore the U.S. funds to the country, adding that it will be a great opportunity for the country.

“The U.S. funds could be restored if the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah reach a deal to end their differences,” says Sayed Nasir Mosawi, adding that “It will greatly impact the U.S. aids to the country if the Afghan leaders change their minds.”

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the former Chief Executive of the Afghan government, a day earlier assured the Afghan people that significant progresses were made in the negotiations to break the current political impasse with his main electoral rival, adding that they have reached a “tentative” agreement.

Earlier, the second Vice President, Mohammad Sarwar Danesh, confirmed to Deborah Lyons, the U.N. Special Representative and head of UNAMA that the two leaders will reach a final agreement in the next few days.
