April 28 (The Killid Group) — The United States with the highest death toll of 56,253 remains the worst-hit country.
According to the John Hopkins University’s tally, the total number of infection cases worldwide topped 3 million, with a global death toll of 211,216.
Out of the total infections worldwide, there are currently 988,451 confirmed coronavirus patients in the United States, the most of any country.
At least 56,253 have died of the illness across the U.S. as of today, with the largest numbers so far in New York State with 22,531 fatalities.
France, Italy and Spain, three of the European hard-hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic, earlier on Sunday announced plans to begin easing restrictions in early May.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, however, warned Monday that the virus remains “extremely dangerous,” though countries are seeking to return to normal as social isolation measures have helped slow the spread of COVID-19.
Global confirmed COVID-19 cases topped 3 million on Monday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, while 211,216 have globally died.
