18 April (The Killid Group) — The coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting 185 countries/regions around the world, according to a tally by John Hopkins University, with more than 2 million confirmed infections and more than 154,000 fatalities.

A tally by John Hopkins University’s coronavirus center indicated that globally 2,243,710 people have been infected with the coronavirus pandemic, while 154,219 coronavirus patients have died of the illness.

The United States has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths, more than 37,000 as of today and has reported the majority of confirmed infections, 702,164, the data by JHU indicated.

It is followed by Spain with 190,839 infections and 20,002 total deaths, according to the data collated by JHU Coronavirus Center.

Italy also remains the worst-affected country in the world and in Europe with 172,443 total infections and 22,745 total deaths in the country.

Sorted from A-Z, the infection toll in all across continents, according to JHU Coronavirus Center is as: in Africa, the five countries reporting most cases are Egypt (2,844) with 205 deaths, South Africa (2,783) with 50 deaths, Morocco (2,564) with 135 deaths Algeria (2,418) with 367 total deaths, and Cameroon (1,017) with 22 deaths.

In Asia, the five countries reporting most cases are China (83,784) with 4,636 fatalities, Iran (79,494) with 4,958 deaths, Turkey (78,546) with 1,769 deaths, Israel (12,982) with 151 deaths and South Korea (10,653) with 232 total fatalities.

In America, the five countries reporting most cases are United States (702,164) and a total of 37,000 deaths,  Brazil (34,221) with 2,171 deaths, Canada (32,857) with 1,356 deaths, Peru (13,489) with 300 and Chile (9,252) with 116 total deaths.

In Europe, the five countries reporting most cases are Spain (190,839) with 20,002 total deaths in the country, Italy (172,443) with 22,745 deaths, France (149,130) with 18,703 deaths, Germany (141,397) with 4,352 deaths, and United Kingdom (109,769) with a total of 14,607 total fatalities.

In Oceania, the two countries reporting most cases are Australia (6,522) with a total of 66 deaths, and New Zealand (1,422) with 11 deaths.

Among countries affected by coronavirus, Afghanistan has also reported an increase in its cases with 906 infections and 30 total deaths.

The virus is spreading rapidly in many countries and the death toll is still climbing, but the majority of people are recovering from the infection.
