April 7 (The Killid Group) – The total number of coronavirus cases in Afghanistan has increased to 423 on Tuesday, while that of deaths hit 11 , according to fresh data released by the country’s health officials.

Waheedullah Mayar, the Afghan health ministry spokesperson, confirmed that there were 56 new active coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide total to 423.

Of those infected, 27 were recorded in Herat, 12 in Kabul, 10 in Kandahar, five in Balkh, and two in the eastern Nangarhar province.

Of the total number of people infected with the virus, 11 have died of illness while 18 others have recovered.

It is, however, worth noting that the Afghan government has imposed a daily curfew (lockdown) since March 28 to better contain the spread of the disease.

Afghanistan, in the meantime, has been working to improve its testing as well as treatment capacity in a bid to better control the virus, as recently, a 300-bed hospital was inaugurated in Herat province for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
