COVID-19 Infection Toll Jumps to 337 in Afghanistan

April 5 (The Killid Group) — The total infections from the coronavirus pandemic in Afghanistan has now jumped to more than 300, according to the data provided by health ministry.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) infection toll hit at least 337 in Afghanistan, with at least eight deaths, and 17 recoveries, said Waheedullah Mayar, the health ministry spokesperson.

The western Herat province remains the country’s worst-hit region with a total of 216 infections while Kabul remains the second badly-affected province with a total of 53 cases, according to the health ministry spokesperson.

Recently, Kandahar has reported eight new cases of COVID-19, Paktia three, Balkh and Samangan each two cases while Kapisa, Takhar and Zabul each have reported one cases of infection, Dr. Mayar added.

Globally, 181 countries have been affected, over 64,771 people have died and at least 1,202,827 have been infected by the illness as it spreads rapidly to new territories, according to a tally by John Hopkins University.
