April 4 (The Killid Group) The infection toll from the deadly viral pandemic in Afghanistan has reached 299 on Saturday.

The Ministry of Public Health in its updates said that over the past 24 hours, at least 18 cases of coronavirus were recorded in Afghanistan, bringing the total to 299 in the country.

Of the total number of infection cases, Kabul reported a maximum of 11 cases in the past 24 hours, said Dr. Waheedullah Mayar, the ministry spokesman.

It is followed by Samangan with two cases, while Balkh, Kunduz, Faryab, Ghazni and Logar each with one case of the pandemic.

So far, 6 people having been contracted with the virus have died due to the disease, while 10 have recovered, according to the data provided by the health ministry.

The largest province of Herat is now the epicenter of COVID-19, with a maximum of 204 patients.

Officials in the Afghan government, however, have been scrambling to contain the disease by appealing to the public to remain inside homes and go out only in cases of emergencies.
