Coronavirus Updates: Almost 200,000 Cases of Infection by COVID-19 Reported

March 18 (The Killid Group) – There are 198,006 recorded cases of infection by the coronavirus worldwide with 81,950 patients recovered so far, according to media reports.

The cases of infection by the novel coronavirus are nearing 200,000 globally, world news agencies reported.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking cases reported by the World Health Organization and additional sources, the death toll from coronavirus around the world has now risen to 7,948.

Millions are under lockdown, with countries imposing limits on daily life and travel, and crossing border closures.

Almost every country recording cases of the coronavirus have imposed restrictions on travels.

Coronavirus is now reported to be in all 50 U.S. states with at least 112 dying from the virus across the country. The number of cases stands at 6,135.

Italy reported 345 new coronavirus deaths in the country over the last 24 hours taking its total death toll to 2,503.

The World Health Organization is asking countries in Southeast Asia to scale up their coronavirus response and take “aggressive measures” to combat the virus as the number of confirmed cases in the region has reached nearly 500.

Eight countries in the region have confirmed cases now, with numbers rising in the past week: Thailand, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

The novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, first appeared in mainland China and now has spread to almost every continent except the Antarctica.
