March 4, (The Killid Group) ─ Turkish forces downed a fighter jet flown by Syrian government forces over southern Idlib on Tuesday, according to media reports.
It was the third Syrian warplane that Turkey has brought down three days after Turkey hit two other Syrian aircraft on Sunday, March 1.
“Turkish regime forces targeted one of our warplanes, which led to its fall in the northwest area of Maarat al-Numan,” state media of Syria reported.
The Turkish Defense Ministry confirmed the news in a tweet as saying, “an L-39 plane belonging to the [Syrian] regime has been downed”.
On Sunday, March 1, Turkey was reported to have brought down two Syrian fighter jets after forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad downed a Turkish drone on the region.
