(TKG) – The death toll from the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, has now risen to 3,000 worldwide, according to media reports.
China has reported 42 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the country bringing its death toll to 2,912.
China’s Health Commission reported 202 more cases of infection by the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to almost 80,000, most in China’s central province of Hubei.
So far, almost 60 countries across the world have reported their cases of the novel COVID-19.
Iran has announced 11 more deaths from coronavirus, bringing the number of death cases to 54, the most deaths outside China.
The number of people infected in Italy has jumped to 1,694, while the number in France increased to 130.
The Czech Republic, Scotland and the Dominican Republic have confirmed their first cases.
The coronavirus first emerged in China’s central city of Wuhan and has now spread to almost every continent except the Antarctica.
