(TKG) – Saudi Arabia on Thursday suspended pilgrimage entry visas for the visit of Mecca over coronavirus fears, media quoted the foreign ministry.

The government is “suspending entry to UK for the purpose of Umrah and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque temporarily”, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Media quoted the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia as saying, the government also suspends visas for tourists visiting from countries where the new virus is a “danger”.

Outside mainland China, there has been a sudden increase in parts of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, particularly in Iran.

Iran has emerged as a major hotspot in the region, where 15 people have died of the coronavirus, which officially known as COVID-19.

Apart from Saudi Arabia, so far, Iraq and Qatar also have imposed restrictions on arrivals from the countries the virus has been spreading.
