Officials in Attorney’s General: 39 Cases Submitted to AGO by Leader of Green Trend (Rawand-e Sabz)

(TKG) – Officials in the Attorney’s General Office (AGO) said on Tuesday, February 25, that 39 cases related to using ‘insulting’ and ‘abusive’ words against Amrullah Saleh, the leader of the Green Trend (Rawand-e Sabz) were submitted to the office of the AGO for investigation.
The spokesman of the AGO, Jamshid Rasouli, told The Killid Radio that a number of the cases were related to the employees of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) Ministries of Interior, Higher Education, Economy, and some other ministries.
According to him, using ‘insulting’ and ‘abusive’ words is a crime in the criminal law of the country, and they will investigate these cases independently.
However, Abdul Mujib Khelwatgar, the spokesperson for Nai-Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan said the act is in violation of the media law and the cases should have been sent and addressed in the Media Complaints Commission.
Abdul Subhan Misbah, the deputy of Lawyers Union of Afghanistan, in the meantime, told The Killid Radio that there is no specific definition for ‘insulting’ in the Afghanistan Constitution, and it is not the Attorney’s General to address such cases.
The aforementioned cases filed by the Green Trend’s leader Amrullah Saleh amid concerns over freedom of expression has been increased more than in the past.
