(TKG) − A bus collided with a truck in the southern India early Thursday, February 20, leaving at least 19 people killed and 23 others injured, media quoted Indian police.
According to Indian police as saying to media, a state-run bus that was on its way to the capital of Kerala state, from Bangalore, crashed with a truck as a result of which 19 people were killed and 23 others wounded.
The collision occurred near Avanashi, a town in Tamil Nadu state, according to media reports.
More than 110,000 people are killed every year in road accidents across India, according to the AP as quoted police.
Most crashes are blamed on reckless driving, poorly maintained roads and aging vehicles.
