(TKG) – According to media reports, the soldier who killed at least 26 people and injured dozens more in a gun rampage in the Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima was killed by police early on Sunday morning.

World media quoted Thailand military officials as saying that the shooter who killed at least 26 people in a crowded mall on Saturday, February 8, was shot dead on Sunday morning, at around 9:00 a.m. [Thailand time].

Aljazeera news agency quoted a security source who declined to be named as saying that “The police have killed the perpetrator and rescued eight hostages. Some were wounded.”

Earlier on Saturday, February 8, a Thai army sergeant who was believed to be Army Sub. Lt. Jakrapanth Thomma started firing at people in a mall rampage in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, as a result of which 26 people were killed and dozens injured.

The gunman’s motive, however, wasn’t immediately clear, media quoted military officials.
