(TKG) – According to Chinese officials, another 89 people died in mainland China on Saturday, February 8, bringing the total death toll around the world to at least 813.
China’s National Health Commission announced the new death toll on Saturday as saying 813 people have so far died of the coronavirus, adding that China’s total number of infections had risen to 37,198.
Out of the 813 people who have been killed by the virus, 811 were in mainland China, with one death each recorded in Hong Kong and the Philippines.
The coronavirus that was believed to be originated in the central Chinese city of Wuhan has continued to spread rapidly across China and around the world.
Speaking at a news conference, World Health Organization director general said they were fighting not only the virus but also the growing tide of incorrect information around it.
Recently, Wuhan announced Saturday its second rapidly constructed new hospital was ready to welcome patients.
