(TKG)  According to the 209th Shaheen Corps as reporting, a key Taliban commander was killed as a result of an operation conducted last night, February 2, in Balkh province.

It was quoted in a statement released by 209th Shaheen Army Corps as saying, last night, February 2, five Taliban – including a key commander of the group named Haseebullah Ayoubi – were killed in a joint operation by Afghan forces near Khair Abad village of Dawlatabad district.

The source added, a car, three motorbikes, five weapons, some kilograms of cannabis and a large amount of military equipment were also seized by Afghan forces.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

It is worth mentioning that Afghan forces have recently intensified their operations in the northern provinces of the country and many areas have been cleared of the Taliban.
