(TKG) ─ According to media reports, Democratic U.S. lawmakers leading the impeachment case against U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday [January 18, 2020], the president endangers security and must be removed from office to protect national security.
According to media reports, the lawmakers leading Trump’s impeachment case presented their arguments supporting charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress against the president as saying, “The Senate should convict and remove President Trump to avoid serious and long term damage to our democratic values and the nation’s security.”
It was the first time formally calling for the Senate to convict the president and remove him from office, the source added.
Following Trump’s impeachment case, his Senate trial begins on Tuesday in the ongoing year.
