(TKG) — According to media reports, a Pakistani high court overturned a death sentence that was handed down to the former Pakistan Army Chief and ex-president, General Pervez Musharraf.
The death sentence for Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf was annulled on Monday [January 13, 2020] after a higher court overruled the original ruling.
The High Court in the eastern city of Lahore declared the death penalty “unconstitutional” and “illegal.”
Mr. Musharraf, 76, was accused of abrogating the Pakistan’s Constitution in 2007 when he fired much of the judiciary and imposed a state of emergency in an attempt to block a political opposition movement.
