(TKG) ─ According to media reports, Iran’s Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, acknowledged on Saturday [January 11, 2020] as saying the Ukrainian International Airliner was “mistakenly” shot down, killing all 176 on board.
Following investigations for the crash, the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s Aerospace Division, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the crash was “mistakenly” brought down and his unit accepts “full responsibility” for the crash.
According to the Iranian state television, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said that the forces were on high alert, and that an officer mistook the plane for a hostile missile and made the “bad decision” to open fire.
The airliner crashed early Wednesday [January 08, 2020] in the hours after Iran launched missile attacks on two Iraqi military bases hosting American troops.
