Nangarhar security officials have, reportedly, said on Wednesday [December 25, 2019] that as a result of an operation by Afghan forces in Shirzad district of Nangarhar, the area was cleared of Taliban insurgents while leaving them heavy casualties.
The district representative, Mubarez Khadim, told media that during the two months of clearance operations, some areas of this district have also been cleared of militants which had been under domination of Taliban for the past two years.
The operation began two months ago that, ultimately, was given to an end yesterday [December 24, 2019].
The Taliban, however, have not commented on the incident so far.
