It has been reported Saturday that a gas explosion on Friday [December 6, 2019] killed five people and injured 42 others in an apartment in Slovakia.
According to firefighters, the blast occurred on Friday afternoon, and was followed by a fire that ripped through the top four or five floors of the high-rise building, which was in danger of collapsing.
It was not clear how many people had been inside, but firefighters said all people they could find were evacuated to nearby schools.
The cause of the explosion has been reported unclear so far, and investigations are being underway.
During the winter season, many people use gas heaters which can contribute to occasional casualties.
