It was reported by Amnesty International [December 3, 2019] that after the recent protests in Iran, the death toll has risen to 208 people, and reportedly, is likely to be higher.
The organization credits the figures based on information obtained from relatives of the victims, journalists and other agencies.
“Extensive video footage verified and analyzed by Amnesty International’s Digital Verification Corps shows security forces shooting at unarmed protesters,” the organization added.
Few days ago, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated across Iran after an abrupt decision by authorities to hike petrol prices as part of efforts to blunt the effects of crippling US sanctions on the country’s economy.
Other countries, including the United States, have called upon Iran to accept the demands of Iranians, but Iranian authorities have not yet responded positively to those demands.
