Iraq Security Forces have confirmed [November 28, 2019] that forty seven of their soldiers have been wounded in the attack on Iranian consulate in Iraq.
According to security officials, a black-masked group attacked the Iranian consulate in Najaf city of Iraq yesterday [November 27, 2019] and set fire to some parts of the consulate.
The sources added that all diplomat staff at the consulate managed to evacuate just before protesters broke in, and according to reports the attack was planned in advance.
Since October 1 of the ongoing year, protests have begun in Iraq against corruption, unemployment and lack of public services, killing 339 and injuring 16,000 people.
Some countries, including U.S., have called upon Iraq government to meet the protesters’ demands, but the Iraq government has not yet commented in this regard
