BAGHLAN (The Killid Group) – Afghan National Defense Security Forces rebuffed the Taliban attack in Pul-e-Khumri city, the center of the northern province of Baghlan, local authorities said in a statement.
Ahmad Jawed Bisharat, Spokesman for the Baghlan police, told The Killid that Taliban launched an attack Sunday morning from Kar Kar area, but was warded off by the Afghan security forces, as they stood up for retaliation.
At least 30 armed Taliban are surrounded at the scene, who will soon be taken down by forces, the statement read.
But the Taliban claimed the group carried attack Saturday night, surrounding the Pul-e-Khumri city from all directions, and gained control over a number of security posts.
Eyewitness told The Killid that clashes between the forces and the Taliban still ongoing, as a number of residents fled the area for safety.
