At least nine people were killed and further 16 wounded in a shooting in Dayton, state of Ohio, according to police.
The shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday in the center of the city, the Dayton Daily News newspaper reported.
Dayton police department said in a tweet an “active shooter situation” had begun at 01:22am.
“The shooter is deceased. There are 9 others also deceased. At least 16 others went to area hospitals with injuries,” it added.

Miami Valley Hospital spokeswoman Terrea Little was quoted as saying by The Associated Press news agency that 16 victims had been received at the hospital, but she could not confirm their conditions.
The incident came hours after a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, killed at least 20 people and wounded 26 others.

Twenty people were killed and further 26 injured in a mass shooting in Texas City of El Paso.
The massacre happened at a Walmart store near the Cielo Vista Mall, a few miles from the US-Mexican border, BBC reported.
A 21-year-old man is in custody. Police said the suspect was a resident of the Dallas-area city of Allen, about 650 miles (1,046km) east of El Paso.
CCTV images said to be of the gunman and broadcast on US media show a man in a dark T-shirt wearing ear protectors and brandishing an assault-style rifle, according to report.
Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump described the attack as “an act of cowardice”.
“I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people”, he said in a tweet.
The victims of the attack have not yet been named. However, Mexico’s President Manuel Lopez Obrador said three Mexicans were among those killed, Reuters news agency reports.

The attack came less than a week after a teenage gunman killed four people at a California food festival and wounded dozens further.
