KABUL (The Killid) – The Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh – at a conference on violence against women – said Sunday the government is not successful in preventing violence against women, causing it rise every day.
According to Danesh, weakness of rule of law, corruption in law enforcement bodies and the culture of impunity are of the main causes of violence against women in the country.
Although efforts have been made in recent years to reduce violence against women; but it did not do any good to less the problem.
Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of the country, called on the victims of violence to address their cases at judicial authorities for justice, as he vows to handle the cases with preservation of their privacies.
Meanwhile, Dilbar Nazari, Minister of Women’s Affairs said appointment of prosecutors and judges in remote areas are difficult due to insecurities in the provinces, which is why most of the victims are deprived of their deserving rights as women.

The conference comes at a time, Ministry of Women’s Affairs released statistic of violence against women has been rising more recently, with 5,139 cases of violence against women registered in the ministry last year.
