JOWZJAN (The Killid) – Qoshtepa district of Jowzjan province in North Afghanistan has collapsed into Taliban hand, local authorities said, adding at least 100 Afghan forces were killed and wounded during clashes.
Sher Mohammad, Member of the Provincial Council, confirming the matter told The Killid, “Since four days Afghan security forces has been battling with Taliban in Qoshtepa district.”
During this period, security officials did not initiate any effective operation to ward off the government armed oppositions groups for the area, he added.
Last night, Qoshtepa district fell to the Taliban with all its military equipment.
Meanwhile, Feraidoon Aniq, Spokesman for the Provincial Governor, said Afghan forces faced a serious battle in the district; since 10pm Sunday, they have lost all connections with officials and have heard nothing until now.

Taliban have cut all communications means in the area, according to sources.
The fall caused a widespread concern among residents, with fear other districts might also collapse if the security officials do not take immediate military action.
