KANDAHAR (The Killid) – At least eight civilian were killed as the Taliban attacked Maroof district compound in the southern province of Kandahar early Sunday morning, according to local authorities.
Provincial Police Chief General Tadeen Khan said four Humvees full of explosives were detonated by Taliban during the attack.
The victims were employees of the provincial office of the Independent Election Commission, according to sources.
Security officials also suffered casualties, but Khan did not provide exact figures.
Hashim Durrani, Head of the Provincial Office, said employees were working for the voter registration process which ended Saturday.
