The United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, said on Saturday next round of the US-Taliban talks will begin on June 29, without specifying the venue.
So far both parties have held at least six round of talks – the recent in Doah, Qatar – since the beginning of peace negotiations, where Khalilzad said they made slow but steady progress on four issues: counter-terrorism efforts, US forces pullout, a comprehensive ceasefire and intra-Afghan dialogues.
He believes all parties seek “rapid progress” during this round.
“We’ll start the next round of talks on Jun 29. Based on my recent visits to #Afghanistan and #Qatar, I believe all sides want rapid progress.” Khalilzad confirmed in a tweet Saturday.

This comes after Khalilzad shared the outcomes of previous talks with not only Afghan prominent leaders, but also international counterparts – being optimistic about peaceful Afghanistan.
